FORMER Ilocos Sur Governor Chavit Singson is no longer joining the senatorial race this upcoming midterm polls in May.
Singson decided to withdraw from the senatorial race, citing that senatorial work required hard work that may take a toll on his health.
"Hindi po biro ang kampanya, lalo na ang trabaho ang isang senador, kung talagang magtatrabaho. Ayaw kong ipilit. Ang aking kalusugan ay maaring magdusa," Singson said during the “VLive Grand Launch” at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Sunday, January 12.
“Matapos ang mahabang pag-iisip, ang desisyon ko po, hindi na po ako tutuloy sa aking kandidatura sa Senado. Ayokong ipilit kung ang aking kalusugan ang maaaring magdusa," he added.
Singson disclosed that he is currently in treatment with his pneumonia which also requires enough rest for him.
The former governor even revealed he eloped from the hospital because they didn’t want him to let go.
“Gusto ko pong makapaglingkod sa inyo ng buong puso at buong tapat kaya’t minabuti kong unahin muna ang aking pagpapalakas para lalo pa ako makatulong at makapaglingkod sa inyong lahat” Singson told the audience.
The 83-year-old politician also asked for understanding especially those who invested their time, and strength to campaign for him.
