THE world was shocked when Luka Doncic was traded to the LA Lakers in exchange for fellow superstar Anthony Davis.

While Davis’ departure caused some to raise eyebrows, Doncic joining the Lakers has also brought new excitement to the organization.

Now, the burning question is: when will Doncic make his debut for the Lakers?

Doncic has not played since Christmas. The long absence has cost the 25-year-old Slovenian star a spot in the All-NBA team, which he has made in the past five straight seasons.

Doncic is nursing a strained left calf late which he suffered during a match against Minnesota.

Doncic went on to miss Dallas’ next 19 games.

According to Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka, Doncic is set to participate in 5-on-5 practice drills on Thursday (Philippine time), February 5. The Lakers will work with Doncic’s personal training team to formulate a return plan.

The Lakers are confident that Doncic will be able to play his first game as a Laker before they finish their current stretch of four games in Los Angeles over the next seven days.

Sporting a 29-19 (win-loss) record, the Lakers are currently fifth in the Western Conference. LA still has 34 games left in the season, and Lakers diehards–even the non-Lakers fans–are just aching to see Doncic finally play in a purple and gold uniform.(CCM)
