PAL INTERCLUB: Liloan Golf Club makes history, cops Sportswriters Division title

HISTORY was made in the 77th PAL Interclub in Davao City when the Liloan Golf Club pocketed its first-ever championship title in the prestigious tournament on Friday, March 6.

The club, representing Liloan Golf by Duros Land and backed by DUROS Group and 7Core Communications, Inc., shone bright at the Apo Golf & Country Club fairways, conquering some of the country’s top teams to rule the Sporswriters Division.

The Ian Mantuhac-skippered Liloan shocked the veteran-laden tournament by tallying 322 points, warding off Davao, which staged a spirited push in the final day to finish first runner-up with 322.

Liloan sealed the championship behind a strong showing in Day 3 with Cloyd Dedicatoria and Anthony Milan leading the charge by firing 26 points each in Round 3.

Liloan built a 24-stroke lead over DOLE Kalsangi entering the final day of the competition. In the final round, the team paraded Carlo Barte, Hilario Mantujac III, Max Dagdan, Keano Pamaos, and Eugene Andales, who did just enough to hold off the rallying Davao.

DOLE Kalsangi went on to finish third with 293.

Other competing teams in the Sportswriters Division were Filipino Golfers Association in Kuwait(290), Paoay (288), FilAm Fairway Hawaii (287), MSU (280), Baguio Country Club (265), FilAm Burbank (259), FilAm Golf Club of Sacramento (258), Greenhills West (228), and Green Tee Club Riyadh (216).(CCM)
