Frasco consults constituents as Duterte impeach voting nears
CEBU 5th District Rep. Duke Frasco is consulting with the people of his district wether or not he will vote against the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.
In a post on his social media page, Frasco said he had a meeting with the barangay captains in the town of Liloan to seek guidance regarding the plenary voting at the House of Congress on Monday, May 11.
Frasco said aside from the people of Liloan, he will also consult the leaders and supporters from other towns and city in the fifth district.
“Dili lamang ang mga opisyal sa Liloan ang akong konsultahon, kundili apil usab ang atong mga opisyal sa 5th District of Cebu, atong mga liders, supporters, ug ang katawhan aron magiyahan kita sa hustong desisyon isip representante sa Kinto Distrito," Frasco said
Last year, Frasco signed the petition to impeach Duterte along with the 240 lawmakers –with the reason that he signed the petition for his people.
Not signing in favor of the impeachment may lead to “zero budget” for his district, Frasco saks.
The first impeachment case was invalidated after the Supreme Court declared this unconstitutional for violating the one-year rule under Article XI, section 3(5) of the Constitution.
After a year, new impeachment complaints were eventually filed against the Vice President
The House Committee on Justice has recently unanimously approved the committee report finding probable cause to impeach Duterte.
On Monday, May 11, the 318 members of the House will cast their votes whether or not send the complaint to the Senate.
Since the 55 members of the Justice Committee voted for the articles of impeachment, only 51 more votes are needed to reach the one-third required threshold to impeach Duterte.
