Olympian boxer Marcial accused of infidelity, physical abuse

TOKYO Olympics bronze medalist Eumir Marcial is facing serious allegations of infidelity and physical abuse.

The allegations were made by Marcial’s wife, Princess Galarpe Marcial, who filed concubinage and violation of the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act charges before the Pasay City Hall against the rising Filipino boxer.

In filing the complaint, Princess revealed that she caught her husband with his alleged mistress.

Princess also disclosed her personal battle with trauma and emotional stress in a social media post Friday, Jan. 10.

Princess said their relationship turned sour when she discovered Eumir's alleged affair with a fellow Zamboangueño native in a rented condominium in Pasay City.

Princess said she exerted efforts to save the relationship but the situation became worse when Eumir allegedly continued to inflict physical and emotional abuse.

Princess also accused Eumir of withdrawing all their savings to build a house in the boxer’s hometown.

"So much has happened in the past few months. I have had to deal with such difficult events in my personal life that took a toll on my mental and emotional health. Particularly, things in my marriage with Eumir that I may have kept out of the public," Princess said in a Facebook post.

"I feel like I owe it to myself to share the truth to everyone who has been there from the very beginning of our relationship, who witnessed our marriage, until now that it has been deeply wounded me by it, 14 years later," she added.

Eumir on Saturday, January 11, denied Princess’ allegations against him.

Facing reporters in Zamboanga City, Eumir also denied allegations that he withdrew their savings to build a house for his alleged mistress.

Eumir said their joint account is under Princess’ control as well as the title deed to their house in Manila.

“I can't even build a house for my own parents,” Eumir said in Filipino.

Eumir also questioned his wife’s motive of taking to social media when they could have settled the conflict amicably.

Princess made another social media post in response to Eumir’s denial.

"Please do remember every word that he said from this interview. From start to finish. Because of these words coming from his mouth will reveal the whole truth," she wrote.(CCM)
