Jpark Mactan International Marathon debuts with partnership between Bohol International Marathon and Jpark Island Resort to promote Sports Tourism
Jpark Island Resort & Waterpark proudly announces the launch of the inaugural Jpark Mactan International Marathon, set to take place this year on the scenic island of Mactan. As part of its historic debut, the event is partnering with the Bohol International Marathon in a strategic alliance designed to strengthen sports tourism and establish the Visayas as a premier destination for international running events.
This first-ever marathon marks a milestone not only for the resort but also for the region’s growing reputation as a hub for wellness travel and destination races. Through this collaboration, organizers aim to create a unique dual-race experience connecting Cebu and Bohol—two of the Philippines’ most sought-after travel destinations.
“Our inaugural race is more than a sporting event; it’s a celebration of community, travel, and active lifestyles,” said VP for Operations and General Manager Anders Hallden. “Partnering with Bohol International Marathon allows us to introduce runners to a multi-destination race journey that highlights the best of island hospitality, culture, and natural beauty.”
The partnership will feature coordinated promotions, accommodation packages, and incentives encouraging runners to be part of the Jpark Mactan International Marathon happening on October 11, 2026. Organizers anticipate the collaboration will attract athletes, spectators, and tourists from around the world, generating positive economic impact for local businesses while showcasing the region’s world-class venues and warm hospitality.
On Monday, February 16, 2026, representatives from both committees namely Michael Yu (Event Co-Chair - BIM), Dr. Iris Gonzales (Director of Operations – BIM), Janin Yap Tan (Director of Hydration & Course Services – BIM), Joseph Ven Dumadag (Creative Director – BIM) and Jpark’s VP for Operations and General Manager, Anders Hallden have officially signed the Memorandum of Agreement witnessed by executives of the resort and friends from the media.
As global interest in sports tourism continues to rise, the inaugural edition of the Jpark Mactan International Marathon positions itself as an exciting new addition to the international racing calendar—one that blends competition, travel, and unforgettable island experiences.
