Port of Cebu exceeds March target collection
REVENUE lines rose past targets again as Cebu’s customs collection posted another quarterly overrun, extending a sustained run of above-goal performance at the Bureau of Customs Port of Cebu.
The Port collected P4.34 billion in March 2026, exceeding its P4.32 billion target by P21.19 million or 0.49 percent.
The figure also reflected a 14.94 percent increase from March 2025, adding more than P564 million year-on-year.
For the first quarter, collections reached P12.35 billion, surpassing the P11.97 billion target by P387.18 million or 3.23 percent.
The result also marked a 1.53 percent rise compared to the same period last year.
The Port’s performance extended its streak of exceeding monthly targets for three consecutive months in FY 2026 and four straight months since December 2025 under District Collector Alexandra Yap-Lumontad.
Customs officials attributed the sustained gains to strengthened enforcement, improved processing systems, and tighter operational coordination, in line with reform directions from Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno.
Lumontad earlier emphasized that collections reflect both governance discipline and improved systems aimed at ensuring efficient and accountable service delivery.
Stakeholders later issued a series of commendations recognizing the port’s performance and operational reforms.
The Customs Industry Consultative and Advisory Council (CICAC) Cebu members signed a manifesto of support, citing integrity, professionalism, transparency, and operational efficiency as key factors that strengthened trust and coordination between the port and the private sector.
The Visayas Unified Truckers Association (VUTAI) also recognized improvements in cargo movement and faster container release, while Oriental Port and Allied Services Corporation (OPASCOR) cited stronger stakeholder engagement and improved cargo processing at the Cebu International Port.
The PCCBI–Cebu Chapter commended the port’s ability to sustain target compliance while maintaining trade facilitation and efficiency.
Private logistics firms also expressed support.
FLS Group Philippines pointed to reduced delays and improved predictability in clearance processes, while Cebu Mitsumi, Inc. credited consistent customs services for supporting manufacturing and export operations. A.D. Gothong Manufacturing Corporation also cited improved responsiveness and coordination in cargo movement.(MyTVCebu)
