CEBUANO big man June Mar Fajardo sank a long jumper from the buzzer that helped the San Miguel Beermen escaped the erstwhile unbeaten Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 113-112, on Thursday night, September 5, in the 49th PBA Governors’ Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Rookie Felix Lemetti gave Rain or Shine a one-point lead with three seconds left. The Beermen inbounded the ball then CJ Perez ran the lenght of the floor before flipping a pass to Fajardo.

With time running out, Fajardo fired a 12-footer. The ball hit the front of the rim before falling in as the final buzzer sounded.

The Beermen sealed their third win five games while the Elasto Painters tasted their first loss in five games.

Fajardo had 27 points and 19 rebounds. It was a special night for Fajardo as he moved past Philip Cezar at No. 7 in the all-time rebounding ladder with 5,846, and tied Danny Seigle at No. 10 in the all-time most number of charities made with 2,096.

Jordan Adam exploded for 41 points for San Miguel while Perez and Jericho Cruz added 10 points each.
