VICE President Sara Duterte once again made a pitch for the 10 senatorial candidates that Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) is fielding in for the May 12 elections.
During PDP’s miting de avance at the Liwasang Bonifacio on Thursday, May 8, Duterte said the so-called “DuterTen” must be supported because the “Filipinos deserve better.”
“Filipinos deserve better. We must return to long-term, concrete programs, not short-term dole-outs that are being abused by those in power,” Duterte said in a report by Inquirer.net.
Composing the “DuterTen” are reelectionists Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa and Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go; musician and lawyer Jimmy Bondoc; former Interior Usec. Jayvee Hinlo; former Presidential Adviser for Northern Luzon Raul Lambino; SAGIP Party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta; doctor and vlogger Richard Mata; Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder Apollo Quiboloy; former Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez; and actor Phillip Salvador.
The vice president also took a swipe at President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
“Unfortunately, we installed a leader with no capability to understand the true condition of Filipinos… We are paying the price of choosing the wrong leader,” Duterte said.
Food security, a “modern and hybrid” education system to instill “discipline and love of country,” universal healthcare, and livelihood opportunities are what the Filipinos need, she added.
“What Filipinos need are strong infrastructures. Let us build, build, build, build into the future,” she said, recalling the infrastructure program of her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Aside from appealing for support for the PDP senatorial candidates, the vice president also urged her supporters to be “observant” on election day.
“We need to be observant. There’ve been reports and whispers that there’ve been actions in many parts of the country, warnings that widespread cheating has already started in the election by the Alyansa,” she said.
