WITH millions expected to flock to Cebu for Sinulog 2025, the Cebu province government, Cebu City government, and security forces are joining forces to ensure the safety and smooth flow of the grand parade on Sunday, January 19.

More than 7,000 uniformed security personnel, alongside additional force multipliers, will be stationed across the 5.6-kilometer route, complemented by drones and 360-degree CCTV cameras, to provide thorough surveillance during the event.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia, and other stakeholders convened on January 13 at the Cebu Provincial Capitol, setting plans in motion to address logistical concerns as part of the event's preparations.

One key adjustment discussed involved reducing the number of ritual showdown stations for street dancing from seven to three to expedite the parade's flow.

This change, according to Garcia, would allow for a smoother movement of contingents and shorter interruptions along the parade route.

The governor also recommended cutting the ritual performance time from 14 to six minutes to reduce delays, ensuring the timely arrival and departure of each group.

Private companies are also stepping in to contribute to the success of Sinulog 2025. San Miguel Foods will provide meals and rice bowls for contingents and security personnel. Pepsi will assist with tents, tables, chairs, and 8,000 bottles of water, while Roble Shipping Lines has pledged free transport for out-of-town contingents.

Support from local utility providers has also been secured, including 10 cold water stations from the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD), as well as plans for energy supply bolstered by Visayan Electric (VECO).

Telecommunications companies like Globe, Smart, and PLDT will set up LED screens for the live feed in public areas, ensuring visitors have a chance to view the procession in real-time.

Authorities estimate Sinulog 2025 will host over 42 contingents, including 11 from outside Cebu, and attract approximately three million spectators.

Law enforcement, together with private companies and local government agencies, is working hand in hand to make sure this year's event remains a safe, secure, and unforgettable celebration.

Mayor Garcia urged the public to work together in maintaining peace and order throughout the festivities, reflecting a collective commitment to this grand display of faith, culture, and unity.(MyTVCebu)
