MAYORAL aspirant Councilor Nestor Archival is confident in the political strength of Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK), despite key members switching alliances to rival parties ahead of the 2025 midterms elections.

He emphasized that BOPK’s core remains intact, and the party is preparing to file Certificates of Candidacy (COC) on October 7 or 8 with a complete slate of candidates yet to be unveiled.

Archival believes BOPK’s consistency, in contrast to the shifting allegiances of other parties, will work in their favor.

He observed that while rival groups may change policies with changing alliances, BOPK has maintained a steady approach.

He pointed out that instability within other parties could lead to inconsistent policies in the future.

"Kay kung makita nimo ang usa ka party mag-usab-usab, then ang policy in the future might be mag-usab-usab pud, the cohesiveness," Archival said.

He remains optimistic about the party’s chances, even with the departures of influential figures like Franklyn Ong, president of the Association of Barangay Councils, and North District Representative Rachel "Cutie" del Mar.

Ong, who ran for vice mayor under BOPK in the 2022 elections alongside Margot Osmeña, lost in a tight race. Recently, he aligned with suspended Mayor Michael Rama’s Barug Team Rama, signaling a shift in local political alliances.

Del Mar has also left BOPK, joining forces with Acting Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia’s Kusug Party, where she positions herself as a north district representative candidate.

Other notable defections from BOPK include Jessica Resch, the former Sangguniang Kabataan Federation president, who is now among the probable candidates under Rama's slate.

These departures have altered the political landscape, prompting Archival to acknowledge their impact.
