SOME of the world’s best and brightest dancesport athletes gather under one roof when Cebu City hosts the World Dancesport Cebu Open 2024 and the Philippine Dance Sport Federation (PDSF) Quarter National Championships from September 13 to 15.

Organized by the Dancesport Team Cebu City (DTCC), led by its founder and widely known as the “Father of Cebu Dancesport” Edward Hayco, and the PDSF, the international competition will be held at the sprawling grand ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

The competition will be spiced up by the PDSF Quarter National Championships, pitting rising Filipino dancesport athletes.

Battling for glory are participants from the United States, Brunei, China, Italy, Germany, Belgium, France, Kazakhstan, Russia, Australia, Croatia, Mongolia, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Netherlands, Portugal, Singapore, Turkey, and Vietnam.

Korean participants made a lot of noise last year when the pair of Hoon Jung and Yeeun Lee snatched the gold medal in the prestigious Standard Adult category.

Foreign bets David Diaz Falcon and Denis Beccari also made a good account of themselves when they ruled the Adult Latin category.

The Philippines will be bannered by Cebuano bets Angelo Marquez, Wilbert Aunzo, and Pearl Marie Cañeda, all Southeast Asian Games medalists who secured podium finishes in last year’s competition.(CCM)
