THE House’s quad committee has invited former President Rodrigo Duterte to attend a hearing that is looking into the alleged extrajudicial killings (EJKs) during his administration.

The invitation letter by Surigao del Norte Representative Roger Ace Barbers, who is the chairperson of the Committee on Dangerous Drugs, invites Duterte to attend the inquiry “to provide valuable insights and shed light” on the issues about EJK.

The hearing is set on October 22 at 9:30 am at the People’s Center Building, House of Representatives.

Retired police colonel and former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office chief Royina Garma recently revealed that during the war on drugs under Duterte’s watch, there was a “Davao model” which referred to a payment and reward system for those who can kill drug personalities.

The statement of Garma was denied by Duterte, saying that no police personnel would enter this kind of system and would accept this kind of agreement because it would bring downfall to them.

“Hindi ako nagbibigay ng reward,” Duterte said during his interview with Sonshine Media News International (SMNI) program.

Duterte recently said he “would be happy to appear in both the upper and lower house of congress” to give a statement about the alleged summary killings during his administration.

The International Criminal Court ( ICC) is currently investigating the previous administration’s war on drugs where it said more than 6,000 people were killed.

However, ICC prosecutors estimated that the number of deaths in relation to the drug-war is at least 12, 000 to over 20, 000.(LAO)
