Suganob in serious training for crucial Sept. 12 fight
FULLY aware of the magnitude of his upcoming assignment, Regie “The Filipino Phenom” Suganob is not leaving anything to chance.
The 28-year-old Boholano fighter has immersed himself in serious training for the past six months as he braces for a tough duel against former tormentor Sivenathi Nontshinga on Sept. 12 in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
“Kaning umaabot na dula nako karong September 12, grabe jud akong pagpangandam ani. Continue ra gyud akong training adto pagkahuman nako sa dula last February. Almost six months na akoang preparation ani nga umaabot nga dula,” the prized fighter of PMI Bohol Boxing Stable said.
Nontshinga (14W-2L, 11KOs) and Suganob are facing for the second time with the South African boxer winning via unanimous decision in their first duel that netted him the International Boxing Federation (IBF) light flyweight crown.
Nontshinga would eventually lose the belt. Just like Suganob, he will also gun for a win for another shot at the IBF title belt.
The rematch will be a title eliminator which means the winner will earn a shot at current IBF light flyweight champion Thanongsak Simsri of Thailand.
With so much at stake, Suganob (18W-1L,7KOs) is rallying for support, especially from the Boholanos.
“Sa mga Boholanos ug sa mga taga suporta nako, kani dulaa importante kaayo ni nako kay title eliminator ni. Kinsay modaog ani mo challenge sa world champion. Sa mga taga Bohol ug sa mahiligon ug boxing, ako-a kamo gi imbitar nga motan-aw sa umaabot nako nga dula. Inyohang suporta dako kaayo na nga tabang para nako. Madasig ko ug samot nga daugon ni nga dula kung naa mo nga mosuporta nako,” Suganob said.(CCM)
