Pores cracks IBF Top 15 world rankings
WHEN it rains it pours as Leonard Pores III joined the growing list of world-ranked PMI Bohol Boxing Gym fighters.
Unbeaten in 11 fights with seven knockout wins, Pores III from Claveria, Misamis Oriental landed at No. 15 in the latest International Boxing Federation(IBF) flyweight rankings.
With the 24-year Pores, the reigning IBF Youth flyweight champion,
moving up in the ranking, he joined an elite group of PMI fighters who are top-rated.
Among the top-rated PMI boxers is Regie Suganob, who is ranked No. 1 by IBF, No. 2 by the World Boxing Organization (WBO), and No. 5 by the World Boxing Council (WBC).
Joseph Sumabong, another top PMI fighter, is ranked No. 6 by WBC, No. 8 World Boxing Association, No. 10 WBO and No. 13 IBF.
Sumabong also had a solid showing in the recent Kumong Bolanon 25 that saw him become the unified WBO Asia-Pacific and Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation minimumweight champion after dismantling Taiwanese Jheng Cious via unanimous decision.
Another PMI fighter, Christian Balunan, a former world title challenger, is at No. 6 in the IBF.
Pores’ improved ranking came after he pulled off a convincing unanimous decision victory over veteran Renoel Pael in the Kumong Bol-Anon 25 last July 11 in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.(CCM)
