POLICE are investigating the destruction of ASEAN Summit decorations in Barangay Ibo, Lapu-Lapu City.
Col. Kimberly Molitas, Chief of Staff of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7), said the investigation aims to identify those behind the vandalism.
Molitas, who is also PRO-7’s spokesperson for the ASEAN Summit, said that once the culprits are identified, charges will be filed against them.
Molitas pointed out that the persons behind the destruction must be held liable as government funds were used for the decorations.
“We request and we seek everyone’s cooperation to secure all these properties to make sure that we see the beauty of Cebu,” said Molitas.
Molitas said security cameras installed in Lapu-Lapu, Cebu City and Mandaue City have been linked to the Multi-Agency Command Center (MACC) as part of the heightened security for the 48th ASEAN Summit.
Footage is already being reviewed to possibly identify those who destroyed the decoriatiojns, Molitas said.
Lapu-Lapu Mayor Cindi King-Chan has asked the police to identify the individuals responsible for the vandalism. She also offered a cash reward to those who can provide information that would lead to the identification of the culprits.(CDB)
