EMMANUEL “Jimuel” Pacquiao Jr. came close to pulling off a winning debut in pro boxing as he and Brendan Lally fought to a majority draw on Sunday (Philippine time), Nov. 30, at Pechanga Resort Casino in California, USA.

One judge actually had Pacquiao winning the fight, 39-37, but the two other judges had it even, 38-38.

The four-round lightweight duel between two debuting fighters saw the taller Lally on attack mode.

With her father Manny, boxing’s only eight-division world champion, and mother Jinkee, in attendance, the 5-foot-6, 24-year-old Pacquiao did just enough to thwart the height advantage and the aggressiveness of the 5-foot-7 Chicago native Lally en route to escaping a faulty pro career start.

Jimuel turned pro after piling up six wins through 10 amateur fights. His first pro fight came after he and his wife, Carolina, recently welcomed the birth of their daughter, Clara.

The Pacquiao-Lally fight was the co-featured duel in Manny Pacquiao Promotions’ first card in the United States.(CCM)
