FRIDAY the 13th is considered unlucky, but such wasn’t the case for Carlos Yulo as he received another huge cash prize on Friday, September 13.

Cash windfall continued for the double-gold Paris Olympics Yulo as he received P10 million from the International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), a global port management company owned by billionaire Enrique Razon.

In cash bonuses alone, Yulo has already received at least P90 million after winning a pair of golds in the men’s artistic gymnastics of the Summer Games.

The ICTSI also gave P2 million each to boxers Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas, who snatched bronze medals in their respective categories.

The 19 other members of Team Philippines who failed to win medals did not go home empty handed as ICTS also awarded them with P200,000 each.

The awarding ceremony was held at the Waterside in Solaire in Pasay City and was presided by Christian Martin Gonzalez and Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino.

Representing Razon in the ceremony, Gonzalez, ICTSI executive vice president, said the granting of cash incentives was the company’s way of showing how the athletes and sports are important to the country.

Also present in the ceremony were judoka Kiyomi Watanabe, weightlifters Vanessa Sarno and John Ceniza, rower Joanie Delgaco, and boxers Eumir Marcial, and Carlo Paalam.(CCM)
