SUPERSTAR Luka Doncic will be wearing the purple and gold jersey for years to come.
Doncic isn’t going anywhere in the near future, locking up a long-term future with the Los Angeles Lakers by signing a three-year, $165 million maximum contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers.
“Excited to keep working to bring championships to LA and make Laker Nation proud,” Doncic wrote on social media.
With the contract extension, Doncic will stay with the Lakers through 2028 as he bypassed a chance at free agency next summer.
“Grateful to the Lakers, my teammates and all the fans who’ve shown so much love since day one. This is just the beginning,” the Slovenian superstar added.
Luka joined the Lakers last Feburary in a shock trade that sent Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks.
The third overall pick by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2018 NBA Draft, Doncic played 28 games in his first regular season with the Lakers and averaged 28.2 points, 8.2 assists and 7.7 rebounds per game.
Los Angeles made it to the playoffs but Doncic and LeBron James could not save the Lakers from an early exit as they lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round.(CCM)
