THE Barangay Ginebra Kings created a three-way logjam at the top in Group B of the 49th PBA Governors’ Cup after they clobbered the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 124-102, on Friday night, September 14, at the Araneta Coliseum.

Justin Brownlee was on target in Ginebra’s win, sinking one four-point shot and five three-pointers on his way to dropping a huge 40 points.

Ginebra took a slim 58-54 at the half but punished Rain or Shine in the final half, 66-48, to ice its fifth win in seven games, tying its victim and the San Miguel Beermen at the No. 1 spot in Group B.

The Kings actually lost to the Elasto Painters in their first meeting this season, losing by seven points in a match where they scored just 64 points.

Scoring was never a problem for Ginebra in the second meeting as it had five locals coming up with double-digit outputs. Japeth Aguilar finished with 21 points, Stephen Holy fired 18, Scottie Thompson recorded 17, RJ Abarrientos added 14, and Maverick Ahanmisi had 13.

Rain or Shine, which lost for the second time in the last three games, was led by Aaaron Fuller, who piled up 28 points and 11 rebounds.
