WITH another solid showing, Cebuano big man June Mar Fajardo is tipped to win a record-extending 13th Best Player of the Conference (BPC) award in the 50th PBA Philippuine Cup.

The dominant San Miguel Beer center from Pinamungajan, Cebu emerged as the statistical points (SPs) leader at the quarterfinal round of the All-Filipino tournament.

Leading the Beermen to the semifinal round, Fajardo averages 17.4 points, a league-best 15.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game that netted him 45.4 SPs.

Trailing Fajardo is Calvin Abueva of the Titan Ultra Giant Risers 41.2 SPs anchored on his average of 23.6 points per game.

Converge teammates Juan Gomez de Liano and Justine Baltazar are tied at third and fourth places with similar 37.2 SPs.

Magnolia’s Zav Lucero is running fifth with 33.8 SPs, slightly ahead of Titan’s Joshua Munzon (33.6).

Completing the Top 5 contenders are San Miguel’s CJ Perez (32.92), TNT’s Calvin Oftana (32.91), Converge’s Justin Arana (32.6), and Meralco’s CJ Cansino (31.2).

Also in the race are Ginebra’s RJ Abarrientos (31.1), SMB’s Don Trollano (30;5), Ginebra’s Stephen Holt (30.4) and Scottie Thompson (30.2) and Meralco’s Chris Newsome (28.0).

With Converge already out of contention and San Miguel competing in the semifinals, Fajardo is expected to widen his lead in the BPC race.(CCM)
