CEBU CITY–The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of “Walk with Jesus” on Jan. 8.
More than 500 policemen will be deployed for the religious activity, which will mark the start of the 461st Fiesta Señor.
The foot procession will start at the Fuente Osmeña Rotunda and will end at Basilica Minore del Santo Niño.
Lt. Col. Jose Losbaños, information officer of CCPO, said security forces will be strategically deployed two hours before the start of the procession.
Losbaños said they are preparing for a huge crowd, assuring that security measures are already in place to ensure that no untoward incident will happen.
Civilian anti-crime volunteers will also be tapped to help secure the event.
Mobile Patrol Units will also be deployed and will help secure barangays to prevent criminals from taking advantage.
The CCPO said it has not monitored any threats that would disrupt the activity but it will be on heightened alert.
The CCPO also advised devotees to avoid bringing bags as it may cause delays at the Basilica.
Bags being brought into the church will be thoroughly checked to detect possible prohibited items, the CCPO said.(CDB)
