ALL roads will lead to Danao City in northern Cebu on April 18 and 19 for the 3rd edition of the Danao City International Ultra Trail (DCIUT3).

Danao Mayor Mayor Ramon "Nito" Durano and Vice Mayor Ivy Durano led the recent launch of the event, whose registration formally opened on Monday, Jan. 26

Mayor Durano announced that up to P1 million in cash prizes are at stake in the race that will feature 5-kilometer, 35-km, 50-km, and the highly anticipated 100-km category that will crisscross Danao and its five iconic peaks that include Mt. Lantawan (Cahumayan), Mt. Mago (Santican), Danasan Peak, Licos Peak, and Mt. Manghilao (Masaba).

Race director Herson Ypil described this year’s race as “tougher, sharper, and more rewarding than ever.”

With improved trail design, race structure, and overall athlete experience, DCIUT3 poses to become the country’s most challenging and rewarding ultra trail event, Ypil said.

Vice Mayor Durano, on the other hand, said the DCIUT3 is not just a race but a long-term development platform.

“We are not just hosting an event. We are building an industry, a brand, and a future where sports, nature, and community growth move together,” Vice Mayor Durano said.

In a major development, Vice Mayor Durano announced that the race is already recognized by the Asia Trail Master (ATM).

As an ATM-recognized race, DCIUT3 now has the potential to attract international runners as the event is already part of the ATM Grandmaster calendar where participants can earn official points.

Organizers reminded that registration will end on March 5. Those who wish to join may register through www.megatechph.com/events.(CCM)
