SUPERSTAR import Justin Brownlee will finally make his highly-anticipated debut when the Meralco Bolts battle the Macau Black Bears in the East Asia Super League (EASL) on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the The Capital Arena in Ilagan City, Isabela.
Brownlee is finally suiting up after missing the Bolts’ first three games due to pneumonia.
Brownlee was supposed to suit up for Gilas Pilipinas in the upcoming Southeast Asian Games in Thailand but a rule set by the local organizing committee prohibiting naturalized players from playing barred him from the competition.
Gilas’ loss is Meralco’s gain as the availability of Brownlee came at the most opportune time as the Bolts are looking to keep their mini streak going to stay in title contention.
Meralco started the tournament with back-to-back losses but sprung back into contention by winning their last two games, including a 92-74 drubbing of the Black Bears at the Cebu Coliseum last Nov. 15.
With Brownlee in tow, Meralco now has a solid trio of imports as it will also be counting on the hulking Puerto Rican Ismael Romero and the explosive Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.
Ready to provide local support are Chris Newsome, Cliff Hodge, Bong Quinto, and Allein Maliksi, among others.(CCM)
