FORMER senator Bong Revilla on Wednesday, Dec. 10, personally filed his counter-affidavit before the Department of Justice (DOJ), responding to complaints linking him to a supposed “ghost” flood control project in Bulacan.
In a report by Philstar, Revilla’s lawyer, Franchesca Lourdes Señga, said the documents contain evidence that — according to them — prove the allegations against the former senator are “lies and fabrications.”
The complaint involves an alleged flood control project under SYMS Construction, accused of being non-existent despite fund releases.
Revilla’s camp has voiced strong hope that the DOJ will thoroughly review the evidence and decide against elevating the matter to court — arguing there is no truth to the allegations.
The case is part of a broader crackdown on alleged “ghost flood control” projects in Bulacan, some of which are also under scrutiny by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) and earlier flagged by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
This is not the first time Revilla has faced graft-related accusations as he was previously linked to another major scam but was acquitted.(Victoria Diana, USJ-R Comm Intern)
