MAYORAL candidate Nestor Archival Sr. of Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK) said that his experience in public service is his edge in the upcoming elections.

He emphasized that his familiarity with governance, budgeting, and legislation makes him the best choice to lead Cebu City.

“Ang among advantage sa ubang kandidato kay kamao ta unsay mga nahitabo sa city government. Being part of the City Council, nahibaw-an ko unsaon paghimo ug mga balaod, especially in terms of budgeting,” Archival said during the interview with the media on Friday, March 28.

The BOPK kicked off its campaign on Friday, which began with a Mass at the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Cebu City.

The event was attended by the party’s candidates and supporters.

In an interview after the campaign launch, Archival said that his tenure as a Cebu City councilor has equipped him with the knowledge necessary to run the city efficiently.

“In that case, kabalo ko sa mga pamaagi aron malikayan ang wastage ug magamit kini alang sa ubang kagamitan ug serbisyo para sa katawhan,” he said.

Archival further assured that if elected, BOPK will implement sustainable programs that will benefit Cebuanos long-term.

“Nakita sa katawhan nga ang BOPK wala naghatag lang og bugas ug kwarta karon. Ang among serbisyo magapadayon bisan kung wala na mi sa posisyon. Ang among mga programa mulungtad,” he added.

If elected, Archival said his administration will focus on key issues such as education, healthcare, traffic management, and revenue efficiency.

He identified education as the cornerstone of development.

“Ang edukasyon maoy yawi sa kalamboan sa usa ka bata, kalampusan sa usa ka pamilya, ug kalampusan sa usa ka komunidad,” he stressed.

On healthcare, he vowed to complete the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) as soon as possible and ensure free hospitalization for all Cebuanos.

“Pag-abot nila sa hospital, naguol sila kay nagdaot. Inig gawas nila, malipay sila kay naayo na ug wala’y bayad ang ilang pagpa-hospital,” he said.

Archival also promised to implement benefits for senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and single parents, along with solutions to address traffic congestion and garbage disposal issues.

To fund these initiatives, he proposed improving the efficiency of revenue collection instead of increasing taxes.

“Siguruhon nato nga musaka ang atong revenue. Sa pagkakaron, naa ta sa P9 billion. Kung atong pagatagan og pagtagad, muabot kini og P12 billion. Kung naa na tay kwarta, mapatuman nato ang mga importanteng programa para sa katawhan,” he said.

BOPK is fielding a full slate for the 2025 elections. Archival is running for mayor alongside Osmeña, who is vying for the vice mayoral seat.

In the North District, Mary Ann de los Santos is the party’s candidate for congresswoman, while its councilorial bets include Alvin Dizon, Sisinio “Bebs” Andales, Alvin Arcilla, Atty. Mat Medalle, Atty. Manuel Gordon, Nyza Archival, Jingjing Cadungog, and Dr. Boy Labella.

Meanwhile, in the South District, the party is endorsing Bebot Abellanosa for congressman, with councilorial candidates Paul Labra, Roberto “Bob” Cabarubias, Rocky Alcoseba, Michelle Abella, Eugenio “Jun” Gabuya Jr., Boyet Ocampo, Ian Osmeña, and Jose Abellanosa.

BOPK is one of several political groups vying for power in Cebu City. Other contenders include Partido Barug–Team Rama–Bag-ong Sugbo, led by former mayor Michael Rama; Kugi Uswag Sugbo (Kusug)–Panaghiusa, the party of incumbent Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia; and Partido Cebuano, led by former Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA-7) regional director Yogi Filemon Ruiz.(TGP)
