CEBU’S premier multi-sport, intercollegiate tournament is all set to raise its curtain for its brand new season.

The Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) Season 24 will fire off on September 21 at the Cebu Coliseum. The upcoming season will be officially launched in a press conference on Thursday, September 19, at SM Seaside City Cube Wing.

The selection of “Best Muse” will highlight the opening ceremony.

A double-header will formally kick off the basketball tournament with the first game at 4 p.m. featuring the Cebu Eastern College Dragons against the Cebu Roosevelt Memorial Colleges (CRMC) Mustangs in the high school division.

The 5:15 p.m. main game will pit the Benedicto College Cheetahs against the Mustangs.

The basketball tournament will be played every Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

All eyes will be on the University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers, who will be seeking another three-peat in the collegiate division.

The Gary Cortes-coached UV will start its campaign against the University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars on September 22.

UV won the 2023 crown by beating the University of Cebu Webmasters in their best-of-three title series, 2-1.

Cebu Magis Eagles will start life without top point guard Jared Bahay as it will try to defend its secondary division crown.

The Magis Eagles emerged as the 2023 champions after scoring a 2-1 win against the UV Baby Green Lancers in the juniors’ best-of-three championship series.

Aside from basketball, student-athletes will also battle for supremacy in athletics, badminton, beach volleyball, chess, dancesport, football, futsal, karatedo, lawn tennis, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, and weightlifting.(CCM)
