Authorities arrested Mark Alphonsus Villamora, president of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation of Argao town, southern Cebu, late Friday night, July 11, after he allegedly shot and killed a man inside a restobar in Barangay Poblacion.

Police identified Villamora as a resident of Barangay Lamacan and an ex-officio member of the Argao Municipal Council.

He is now facing a murder charge for the death of Elmer Angelo Amarillo, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head and various parts of the body.

According to a report from Maj. Janus Giangan, chief of the Argao Police Station, the shooting stemmed from a personal dispute involving a woman both men were romantically linked to.

Giangan said Villamora was enraged upon learning that the woman he had impregnated was still in a relationship with Amarillo, who had been her longtime boyfriend.

Despite the pregnancy, Amarillo reportedly continued to claim both the woman and the child as his own.

At around 11:16 p.m., the two men crossed paths at the restobar and got into an argument.

During the confrontation, Villamora allegedly pulled out a 9mm pistol and shot Amarillo multiple times.

Responders from the Argao Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office brought Amarillo to Isidro C. Kintanar Memorial Hospital, where he was declared dead at 2:30 a.m.

Villamora attempted to flee but was arrested minutes later by responding police officers. Authorities recovered from him a Glock 17 Gen 4 9mm pistol with an empty magazine.

Police confirmed that while Villamora holds a License to Own and Possess Firearms, he did not have a permit to carry the weapon outside his residence.

Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered nine fired cartridge cases, two fired bullets, one deformed slug, and one bullet fragment.

Villamora was detained at the Argao Police Station.(MyTVCebu)
