VICE President Sara Duterte joined her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, in supporting the senatorial candidates of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).
The Vice President was with half-sister Veronica "Kitty" Duterte in Japan when the PDP-Laban held its proclamation rally of its senatorial candidates on Thursday, February 13, in San Juan City.
Sara voiced her support by sending a message that was read by host Giselle Sanchez and her co-host during the affair.
“Kaisa ng ating mga kababayang patuloy na naghahangad ng isang magandang kinabukasan, ipinapaabot ko ang aking pasasalamat sa inyong pagpupunyaging magbigay-daan sa isang tunay at makabuluhang pagbabago (With our countrymen who continue to hope for a better future, I am extending my gratitude in your endeavor for a true and meaningful change),” Sara said per a report by Manila Bulletin.
Duterte thanked the senatorial bets, expressing her belief that they are striving to bring about true and meaningful change alongside Filipinos.
The party has eight senatorial candidates, including Senators Bato Dela Rosa and Bong Go, former actor Philip Salvador, lawyers Raul Lambino, Jesus Hinlo, and Jimmy Bondoc.
The Vice President also endorsed PDP-Laban’s guest candidates. They are SAGIP Partylist Representative Rodante Marcoleta and detained Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.
The upcoming election is deemed crucial for the Vice President as she is set to face an impeachment trial in the Senate.
Senators will serve as judges, who will decide whether or not the Vice President is guilty of the accusations hurled against her.
