AN UNBEATEN American boxer spoiled the ring return of a Filipino ring warrior on Saturday (Philippine time), February 22.

Cain Sandoval stayed perfect after he defeated Mark Bernaldez via a fourth-round knockout at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California.

The Sacramento, California native Sandoval, who improved to 15W-0L (13 KOs) and remained as a top superlighweight contender, delivered crushing blows in the fourth to finish off Bernaldez.

A native of General Santos City and former fighter of the defunct ALA Boxing Stable, Bernaldez was tagged with a crippling body shot.

Bernaldez nearly fell to the canvas. He survived the blow only to get hit by a right overhand. The blow floored Bernaldez, who attempted to get up but couldnโ€™t beat the country of referee Rudy Barragan.

The end came at the 34-second mark of the fourth round as Bernaldez dropped to 25W-6L, (14 KOs).

It was Bernaldezโ€™s 10th fight in the United States but only his first fight since 2022. Bernaldez actually landed some big shots in the early goings but the rust simply was a factor in the contest.(CCM)
