PAG-IBIG Fund is ramping up efforts to expand affordable housing to finance over 111,648 housing units nationwide in 2025, with 13,427 units allocated for the Visayas region.
This number could increase to 20,000, marking a 27 percent rise from the 10,598 units financed in 2024.
Marilene Acosta, the chief executive officer of the Pag-IBIG Fund, announced the 2024 Stakeholders' Accomplishment Report (StAR) for Visayas on March 21.
She cited a recent agreement with Richwood and the City of Toledo for a Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) project in Toledo City to address the country’s housing backlog.
"We are bringing in more funds to the Visayas. While we expect to collect P14 billion in member savings, we are committing P17.83 billion for housing loans," Acosta said.
Pag-IBIG is set to release P156.86 billion in housing loans nationwide in 2025, following a record-breaking P129.73 billion disbursed in 2024.
The agency’s financing helped 90,616 Filipinos purchase or build homes last year, which makes homeownership more accessible.
Pag-IBIG’s 2024 milestones included financing 9,082 socialized housing units for minimum-wage earners and approving P20.17 billion development loans for nearly 18,000 4PH housing units.
The agency also funded the construction of 17,791 additional housing units under the 4PH program.
Acosta reiterated that Pag-IBIG is committed to providing affordable home financing with favorable terms. Through its housing loan program, members can build or purchase homes, acquire residential lots, buy ready-to-occupy units, and refinance existing home loans.
The 4PH program also offers subsidized interest rates to make housing more accessible to low-income earners.
“Our members can trust that we will continue to provide the benefits they deserve so that more Filipinos can build better lives for their families,” Acosta said.
In 2023, Pag-IBIG Fund released a record-high P126.04 billion in home loans, financing the housing needs of 96,848 members. The amount marked a P8.19 billion increase from the P117.85 billion released in 2022.(TGP)
