THE Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) has slapped an indefinite ban against the 6-foot-6 center of the Phoenix Fuel Masters for alleged breach of contract.

PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial announced that Larry Muyang was sanctioned for playing in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League while he still has a live contract with Phoenix.

The sanction was announced after Marcial and Muyang met to tackle the issue.

Marcial disclosed that Muyang's contract with the Fuel Masters is until the end of May.

Aside from the indefinite ban, Muyang could also face legal trouble due to the infraction, said Marcial.

Muyang can appeal the sanction before the PBA board of governors if he can settle the matter out with his team, Marcial said.

Players who are under contract in the PBA are not allowed to play in other leagues. There had been several cases in the past where contracts of PBA players were rescinded for playing unauthorized games in the so-called “ligang labas.”

Among those who went through such unfortunate incidents were Cebuano players Mac Tallo and JR Quiñahan.(CCM)
