A NINE-DAY rest did wonders for the Barangay Ginebra Kings as they pummeled the TNT Tropang Giga, 92-77, in the 50th PBA Philippine Cup on Wedenesday night, Oct. 15, at the Araneta Coliseum.
Ginebra picked up the pieces after a faulty start, rebounding from an opening-day 73-80 loss to sister team Magnolia Hotshots last Oct. 5.
TNT, on the other hand, faltered after starting its campaign with an easy 93-78 win over the Phoenix Fuel Masters.
Two big men carried the load for Ginebra as Japeth Aguilar and Troy Rosario both came up with double-double performances. Aguilar put up 17 points and 10 rebounds while Rosario piled up 13 markers and the same number of rebounds.
RJ Abarrientos added 14 points while Scottie Thompson bounced back from a scoreless outing against Magnolia and tallied 10 points and nine assists.
Simon Enciso led the Tropa with 17 points, all coming in the fourth period. The Tropa shot poorly from the field with Kevin Ferrer being the only other TNT player to score in double figures with 11.
