BOUYED by a six-fight winning streak, “Sugar” Shane Gentallan is now world-ranked boxer.

The PMI Bohol Boxing Stable stalwart has moved up to No. 15 in the International Boxing Federation (IBF) minimumweight division, brightening his chances of earning bigger fights in the future.

Gentallan’s ascent was made possible by a string of solid performances. The 27-year-old native of Maribojoc, Bohol has not tasted a defeat since losing to China’s DianXing Zhu for the WBC Asian Silver light flyweight title in May 2023.

In his latest outing, Gentallan put on a show in front of his fellow Boholanos when he dominated Arvin John Sampaga in the main event of Kumong Bol-Anon 22 last Sept. 20 in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

Hiking his record to 13W-1L, 7KOs, Gentallan has said that he is ready for bigger fights, claiming that he was able to rebuild his confidence after losing to Zhu.

“My confidence is back. I still have to work on some aspects of my arsenals but if given the chance, I’m ready for bigger fights,” said Gentallan.

Following Gentallan’s latest win, PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions head Floriezyl Echavez Podot said the rising boxer could face a foreign opponent for his next fight.

“I was satisfied with his performance. The power is something that he needs to work on but overall, he has improved a lot,” Podot said.(CCM)
