Bacaltos died after reportedly suffering a heart attack. He was pronounced dead at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, as confirmed by his family and staff.

Reports indicated that Bacaltos was traveling from Cebu City to the municipal hall when he suffered a heart attack inside his vehicle.

He collapsed upon arriving at the municipal building, prompting immediate emergency assistance.
