DON'T forget your umbrella.

Cebu and nearby provinces are in for another round of cloudy skies and scattered rain showers this weekend, but weather authorities said there is no sign of any typhoon entering the country in the coming days.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) remains the dominant weather system affecting the Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan. Meanwhile, easterly winds are influencing weather conditions in Luzon.

In its latest forecast, the Pagasa Visayas Regional Services Division said Cebu will experience cloudy weather with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms on Saturday, May 24.

Winds will be light to moderate from the east to southeast, with temperatures ranging between 27 to 32 degrees Celsius. Sea conditions are expected to remain slight to moderate.

On Sunday, May 25, the weather may improve slightly, with partly cloudy to occasionally cloudy skies and brief rain showers or thunderstorms still likely. Temperatures will range from 27 to 30 degrees Celsius, and winds will continue from the east to southeast.

By Monday and Tuesday, May 26 and 27, skies are expected to clear further, though occasional rain is still possible. Daytime temperatures may reach up to 33 degrees Celsius.

Despite the rains, the Pagasa assured that no typhoons are forecast to develop or enter the Philippine area of responsibility until the end of May.

“We are not seeing any potential tropical cyclones or low-pressure areas at this time,” said Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja.

“Based on our monitoring, we do not expect any typhoon to enter the country in the remaining days of May,” he added.

However, Estareja noted that Mindanao may continue to see heavy rainfall due to the persistent ITCZ activity.

The Pagasa also reminded the public to prepare for the official onset of the rainy season, which is expected in early June.(TGP)
