SUDDENLY, the Cebu Greats are confronted with a ‘one miss, you die’ situation in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL).

With their playoff hopes hanging by a thread, the Greats will take on the also-ran Bacolod Tubo Slashers on Monday, September 22, at the Amoranto Gym in Quezon City.

A few weeks ago, things were promising for Cebu as it racked up five straight wins that bolstered their playoff drive.

But things changed drastically as Cebu dropped one game after another and was pushed on the brink of elimination after absorbing a 59-64 loss to the Davao Occidental Tigers last Monday, September 15.

With the loss to Davao, Cebu fell out of Top 10 in the South Division after dropping to 10-18 (win-loss). The Greats need to finish in the top 10 to make it to the play-in.

With only one assignment left in its schedule, Cebu t needs to beat Bacolod and hopes that Davao and Muntinlupa would lose their remaining assignments to keep its slim playoff hopes alive.

Davao holds a 10-15 record while Muntinlupa has 10 wins and 16 losses.(CCM)
