ASPIRING boxers showcased their potentials via the Villamor Boxing Gym (VBG) Sinulog Boxing Event at the VBG Gym in Barangay Pagsabungan, Mandaue City.
Spearheaded by former world title challenger and veteran matchmaker Edito “ALA” Villamor, the weekend boxing extravaganza featured 21 amateur fights with the duel of Orly Sampan and Jhun Mark Entor earning the “Best Fight of the Tournament” honors.
Sampan and Entor figured in an action-packed three-round encounter in the 55-kilogram division. When the final bell rang, it was Entor of Barangay Apas, Cebu City who came out the winner after earning the nod of two of the three judges for a split decision victory.
Another fighter from Apas, Nicole Maravilla emerged triumphant after beating Fredrich Locsin of Barangay Banilad, Cebu City via split decision in the 46–48 kilogram division.
Also winning in another 46–48 kg match was Carl Simbajon of Riverside, Mandaue who tripped Joram Dizon of Apas by split decision.
Earl Dave Serrano of Barangay Basak, Mandaue dominated Riley Aballe of Pagsabungan, Mandaue via unanimous decision in the 70 kg class.
Other winners in the card sponsored by Takahiro Kameda and Fuwa Boxing Gym of Japan were Chad Arance, Sephan Soreno, Ejay Batian Sila, Cyriel Jake Comendador, Kyler Co, Vince Delos Reyes, Yudi Baguio, and Mark Jayden Gallosa.(CCM)
