THREE tropical cyclones may possibly enter the Philippines this August, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Association (Pagasa) reported.

If these cyclones form within the country, they will be named Fabian, Gorio, and Huaning.

In a report by Philstar, the state weather bureau said it is currently monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA) located 955 kilometers in the east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon low-pressure. The LPA will shortly pass through the country, and will not leave any strong impact, Pagasa said.

Aside from the low pressure being monitored, cloud clusters in Mindanao are also being observed as it may form into a cyclone if it becomes stronger.

The southwest monsoon (Habagat) remains to bring rain showers and thunderstorms to parts of Luzon.

Meanwhile, based on Pagasa’s data, weather conditions this coming weekend are expected to be fairly better as the monsoon slowly weakens.

Thunderstorms and scattered rain are expected to take place in the Ilocos Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Apayao, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, and Pampanga in the next 24 hours.(Theressa Faye Lacandazo, USC Comm Intern)
