THREE personnel of the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) have been dismissed due to their alleged involvement in the recent "tanim-bala" incident at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said the firing of three workers should serve as a stern warning that such actions will not be tolerated.
"We would not stand for any abuse. Any abuse will be with the same result and the same swift action from us as mandated and as ordered to us by the President himself," Dizon said in an Inquirer report.
In a viral video, 69-year-old Ruth Adel shared on social media her experience with an alleged "tanim-bala" incident
at NAIA before flying to Vietnam.
She claimed that security personnel stopped her for a second inspection even though she had already cleared the initial security check.
During the inspection, security personnel alleged that they discovered an "anting-anting" bullet inside her bag.
However, a thorough inspection of the bag did not reveal any bullet casing.
The incident also drew the ire of OTS Administrator Arthur Bisnar.
“We do not condone such actions of OTS officers,” Bisnar said in the same report.
The "tanim-bala" scheme was first reported in 2012 during the latter years of the Benigno Aquino III administration.(Nikelyn Pahayahay, BiPSU Comm Intern)
