World-rated Chinese boxer arrives in Cebu for ‘Fist of Fury 10’
CHINESE boxer Dianxing Zhu has flown in for his highly anticipated duel with Cebuano boxer Ian Paul Abne in the main event of the “Fist of Fury 10: The Eliminator” on May 9 at the Cebu Coliseum.
Zhu, accompanied by his manager Robin Wong, arrived at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6.
Aside from the Chinese delegation, officials from the International Boxing Federation (IBF) have also arrived.
The Zhu-Abne fight is an IBF minimumweight world title eliminator. The winner of the fight will be the mandatory challenger for the IBF minimumweight world title, which is currently held by Pedro Taduran, one of only two active Filipino world boxing champions.
Zhu and Abne will get to see each other before their big fight when they cross paths in the card's weigh-in on Friday, May 8, at the Cebu Coliseum.
“Everything is set. IBF officials and Zhu are already here. We are excited for this card as it is the first time in a long while that a boxing event will be held at the Cebu Coliseum,” promoter Lorenzo “Chao” Sy said.
The card has drawn a lot of attention as apart from the main event, two regional titles are also at stake in the card.
Eight undercards will spice up the event promoted by the Chao Sy International Promotions.
Clashing for the World Boxing Federation Silver flyweight title are Jimuel Aranas of the Chao Sy Boxing Stable and Jeric Noynay of the Martinez Boxing Stable while John Paul Gabunilas will take on Ramil Roda Jr. for the Philippine Boxing Federation super flyweight title.(CCM)
