TOP bets University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers and defending champions Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles pulled off contrasting wins on Sunday, October 6, in the secondary division of the 24th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) Basketball Tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Baby Lancers were pushed to the limit before dispatching the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Baby Jaguars, while the Magis Eagles led from start to finish to chalk up an easy 97-66 dismantling of the Cebu Roosevelt Memorial Colleges (CRMC) Baby Mustangs.

With the hard-earned win, UV stayed in a two-way tie with the University of the Cebu (UC) Baby Webmasters at the top of the teams standings with similar 3-0 (win-loss) cards.

Ateneo, for its part, created a three-way logjam for the fourth to sixth spots with its second win in three games. USJ-R, and University of Southern Philippines Foundation also sport 2-1 slates.

The Baby Lancers were once again led by Roderick Cambarijan Jr., who finished with a game-high 19 points, three assists, three blocks, and one steal.

John Dela Torre and Kenneth Cole ably backed Cambarijan with 16 and 11 points, respectively.

JV Oringo led USJ-R with 14 points and 15 rebounds, while Al Johans Rajah and Kyle Barrieta contributed 13 markers each.

Ateneo had a balanced attack with five Magis Eagles scoring in double figures. Rodolfo Froilan Maglasang and Jelomar Rota led Ateneoโ€™s searing offensive attack with 16 and 15 points, respectively.

Lain Kent Basa pitched in 13 points, Coriantumr Cabantog added 11, and Alden Paul Cainglet had 10 in Ateneoโ€™s 31-point victory.

Karl John Agravante wound up with 14 points and Kian Clark Lipreso had 11 for CRMC, which stayed winless after three games.(CCM)
