Trojans take down fancied foe, qualify to CVIRAA v’ball tilt

SUBANGDAKU Elementary School ended a two-year wait when it took down a fancied opponent in the girls volleyball tournament of the recent Palarong Mandaue.

The Subangdaku Trojans thrashed Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu in their championship match, 25-16, 25-19, and earned the right to represent Mandaue City in a bigger tournament next year.

The title run sent the Trojans to Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet, which will be hosted by Danao City early next year.

Leading the Dino Aribal-coached Trojans team captain and outside hitter Jessa Mae “Pinky” Lavente, who scattered 8 points on her way to winning the Most Valuable Player award.

Joining Lavente in the team were Steffie Nicole Rico (outside hitter), Fritzeine Allaine Malinao (middle blocker), Rayleen Veraque (middle blocker), Hazel Laurente (setter), Yassie Maine Go (opposite spiker), Althea Lausa (libero), Ashlia Kristel Tan (outside hitter), Tiffany Apduhan (opposite spiker), Keziah Azalea Balansag (setter), Rayzel Rocaberte (middle blocker), and Maria Suzaine Balansag (opposite spiker).

The Trojans also have assistant coaches Flordeliza Aribal and Juvelyn Lavente.(CCM)
