THE red-hot TNT Tropang Giga picked up another win, downing the NLEX Road Warriors, 94-87, in the 49th PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Wednesday night, January 15, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Currently the hottest team in the league, the Tropa snatched a fifth straight win, hiking their record to 5-2 (win-loss) that brightened their chances of securing a twice-to-beat incentive in the quarterfinal round.
While TNT is scorching hot, the Road Warriors are in a major slump as they tasted a fifth straight loss to drop to 3-6.
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson was in his usual productive self, tallying 23 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists, three blocks, and one steal.
Calvin Oftana and RR Pogoy backed Hollis-Jefferson with 18 and 14 points, respectively.
The loss spoiled another big game by NLEX import Michael Watkins, who piled up 33 points and 20 rebounds.
Watkins didn’t get enough help as Kevin Alas was the lone NLEX local to score in double figures with 16.
Robert Bolick was limited to just four points, contributing to NLEX’s downfall that put them in a must-win situation in their last games against Phoenix Super LPG, Rain or Shine and Hong Kong Eastern.
