Taduran set to defend world title belt in US
PEDRO Taduran is set to see action in the US again to defend his International Boxing Federation (IBF) minimumweight title.
The 30-year-old Taduran, the lone active Filipino boxing world champion, will take on Brandon Moreno of Spain on Nov. 7 at the Kiva Auditorium in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA.
It will be the second straight time that Taduran will be defending his belt in the US as he scored a seventh-round knockout win over Gustavo Perez Alvarez at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California last April.
Overall, it will be Taduran’s fourth title-defense since winning the world in July 2024 by stopping Japanese Ginjiro Shigeoka in the ninth round at the Shiga Daihatsu Arena in Otsu City.
There were plans to stage Taduran’s duel with Moreno in Manila but negotiations fell through.
Taduran holds a 20W-4L, 14KOs record. He is expected to be tested by the Mexican Moreno, who has yet to taste a single loss in his pro career.
Ranked No. 4 in the IBF minimumweight division, the 28-year-old Moreno has 16 wins with five of his wins coming vai stoppage.(CCM)
