WHO do Filipinos trust more—the President or the Vice President?

The latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey offers a clear answer: confidence in President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is slipping, while Vice President Sara Duterte’s popularity continues to rise.

The SWS survey, conducted from November 24 to 30 and commissioned by Stratbase, found that only 38 percent of respondents expressed “much trust” in Marcos.

This marks a significant drop from 48 percent in June and 43 percent in September, returning to levels similar to the 38 percent recorded in May.

Meanwhile, those who reported “little trust” in the President surged to 41 percent, up from 30 percent in June and 36 percent in September.

This represents the highest “little trust” rating recorded for Marcos in SWS surveys to date. About 20 percent of respondents were undecided, consistent with previous polls.

Regional breakdowns showed the highest trust for Marcos in balance Luzon at 50 percent, slightly down from 51 percent. Metro Manila respondents registered 36 percent trust (down from 46 percent), the Visayas at 35 percent (from 40 percent), and Mindanao at 20 percent (from 27 percent). Notably, a majority in Mindanao—58 percent—reported “little trust,” marking a 10-point increase from September.

Duterte maintained strong public confidence, with 56 percent of respondents expressing “much trust” in her. This represents a slight increase from 53 percent in September, although still below her May and June ratings of 60 and 61 percent, respectively.

Those reporting “little trust” in Duterte fell marginally to 26 percent, while 17 percent were undecided, nearly unchanged from the previous survey.

Overall, the latest SWS poll indicates net trust ratings of -3 percent for Marcos and +31 percent for Duterte, highlighting a widening gap in public confidence between the two top officials.(MyTVCebu)
