Series of trades sealed as PBA Commissioner’s Cup nears
SEVERAL teams shook up their rosters by pulling off trades a couple of weeks before the opening of the import-flavored 50th PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The series of trades saw the Converge FiberXers part ways with Schonny Winston and Kevin Racal in a three-team, five-player deal.
Winston and Racal were sent to the NLEX Road Warriors with the FiberXers getting Javee Mocon and Jonnel Policarpio in return.
Converge then shipped Mocon to the Meralco Bolts in exchange for sophomore guard Kurt Reyson and a future second-round pick.
In a separate development, the league approved a one-on-one trade between the Barangay Ginebra Kings and Terrafirma Dyip.
Ginebra acquired Kenmark Carino while sending Ben Adamos to Terrafirma.
At Ginebra, the 6-foot-8 Carino will be reunited with fellow ex-Terrafirma players Stephen Holt and Isaac Go. The Kings acquired Holt and Go in a previous deal in exchange for Christian Standhardinger and Stanley Pringle.
While the deal has been approved, it will take time before Carino could make his Ginebra debut as he is still recovering from an ACL injury.
The mid-season Commissioner’s Cup will open with a double-header on March 11 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Terrafirma will take on the Titan Ultra Giant Risers in the first game while Converge will face guest foreign team Macau Black Bears in the main game.(CCM)
