RUSSIA is offering agricultural, energy, transport, healthcare, and digital solutions to help address Cebu and the Philippines’ growing development needs as both countries move toward deeper economic cooperation.

Speaking during a business forum in Cebu on Friday, May 29, Artyom Tsinamdzgvrishvili, Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in the Republic of the Philippines, said Russia is ready to support Philippine industries through technology, investments, and long-term partnerships.

“This region of the Philippines is showing strong momentum in growth and development, while Russia brings proven technologies, reliable supplies, and engineering capabilities ready for joint implementation,” he said.

Among the key areas identified was agriculture, where Russia proposed supplying fertilizers, agricultural machinery, and technical support to help improve yields of rice, coconut, and vegetables.

Russia also offered to strengthen food security through grain and flour exports amid global supply disruptions and rising fuel prices.

In transport modernization, Russian companies are prepared to provide passenger vehicles, school buses, and tourism shuttles designed for tropical conditions as the Philippines upgrades its public transportation system.

The Russian official also highlighted digital transformation opportunities, including e-government platforms, smart traffic systems, AI-powered monitoring, tourism management, and disaster-response technologies.

On energy, Russia said it can provide LNG, solar and wind equipment, battery storage systems, and next-generation nuclear technologies to help address power shortages and support economic growth.

Healthcare cooperation was likewise identified as a major opportunity, with Russia offering pharmaceuticals, vaccines, diagnostic equipment, medical supplies, and specialized vehicles for remote areas.

Tsinamdzgvrishvili also proposed cooperation in disaster preparedness, including rescue vehicles, helicopters, mobile command centers, and emergency response equipment for typhoon-prone communities.

The Russian trade representative said bilateral relations between Russia and the Philippines are entering a stronger economic phase as both countries mark 60 years of diplomatic ties.

“Sixty years of friendship and partnership is not only a symbolic milestone; it is a strong foundation for our economy, for trade, and for the new projects we are building together here right now,” he said.(MyTVCebu)
