THE House quad-committee overall chairman Surigao del Norte 2nd district Rep. Robert Ace Barbers took exception to the recent tirades of lawyer Harry Roque.

The veteran lawmaker warned that he will not take Roque’s actions sitting down after the former Palace spokesperson called the committee a “Kangaroo Court”.

A kangaroo court, according to Merriam Webster dictionary, refers to a “mock court in which the principles of law and justice are disregarded”.

In a virtual press conference, Barbers emphasized that Roque plays a key role in their investigation on the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO).

Barbers believe that he has links to them citing the “overwhelming” circumstantial evidence between Roque and Lucky South 99.

Roque, in a post on his verified Facebook page, said the committee should’ve stopped from involving him with these matters since Cassandra Li Ong has already denied that he was their lawyer.

Roque emphasized that he will no longer attend the hearings by the quad-comm.

Last Sept. 12, Roque was cited in contempt for the second time for failure to produce the documents and present them before the quad-comm.

Barbers said this was the opposite of what he told them.

In a recent post, Roque said no warrant of arrest was served against him.(CMM)
