POPE Francis’ condition showed ‘slight improvement’ and that he is well rested. While there has been some slight improvement, ‘the prognosis remains reserved,’ the Vatican said per an AFP report.

The 88-year-old on Wednesday spent his 13th day in the hospital. This is his fourth and longest hospitalization.

The Pope was admitted to Agostino Gemelli Hospital on February 14 due to bronchitis.

The Vatican later stated on Tuesday, February 25, that his condition was 'critical but stable' and he is being monitored for bilateral pneumonia.

Despite continuously receiving high-flow oxygen, he had not experienced any asthmatic respiratory crises.

A Vatican official who did not wish to be named said that Pope Francis remained alert and was able to eat normally and move around his hospital room.

Also, the 'slight renal insufficiency' observed over the weekend has 'receded’.

The pontiff continues to carry out his church duties.

Senior Vatican Official, Cardinal Luis Tagle led a prayer service at St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican on Tuesday, February 25.

The pilgrims, Vatican officials, and devotees persist in their efforts by continually offering prayer services for the Pope, seeking health improvements.

Cardinal Baldassare Reina also held a mass at Gemelli Hospital’s St. John Paul II chapel, where the Pope is under care.(Mary Grace Fegarido, USJ-R Intern)
